Tokomololo is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Meilir Tee Evans, making “sunny, sumptuous electronica in the vein of Bonobo, Four Tet and Barry Can’t Swim” (Clash Magazine). These soundscapes provide the perfect vehicle for expressive Welsh-language vocals, delivered by Meilir himself, bringing a genuinely fresh offering to the Welsh music scene.

Live, Tokomololo uses looping, sampling and vocal layering to build rich, evolving sets that get people moving.

In a first year packed with gigs across the UK, Tokomololo has already played FOCUS Wales, Sŵn Festival in Cardiff, and is confirmed for the upcoming Other Voices (Cardigan) line-up. He also featured in a multidisciplinary arts event curated by Turner Prize-winner Jeremy Deller and The National Gallery, a sign of the project’s growing reputation and creative reach.

Still in its early stages, Tokomololo is quickly becoming one of the most distinctive new voices in Welsh electronic music. The sound draws from ambient, dance and experimental influences, while keeping melody and storytelling at its core.
