MELDA LOIS

Originally from Cwm Croes near Llanuwchllyn, the now Cardiff-based Melda Lois combines poetic lyricism and warm, raw acoustic arrangements in her deeply personal yet universally resonant songwriting. Her work, inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Lucy Dacus, Steve Eaves and Meic Stevens, has been praised for its authenticity and lyrical depth, while her introverted nature has been described as rare and enchanting for the Welsh scene.
In 2025, she released a double single, including ‘Am Eiliad’, which was made Track of the Week on BBC Radio Cymru, and ‘O’r Ddwy Lan’, her cover of Joni Mithcell’s ‘Both Sides, Now’. Her debut EP ‘Symbiosis’, was released in 2024, with support from I KA CHING Records and BBC Horizons Launchpad fund, which was shortlisted for Best Short Record at the Selar Awards 2025.
She has recorded sessions for BBC Horizons and BBC Radio Cymru, has published her poetry in several anthologies, and is a passionate member of the Kathod collaborative for women/non-binary Welsh creatives.
