Caernarfon-based singer-songwriter Mei Emrys is currently working on his second solo album: ‘Atlas’ is set to be released during 2026 (on the Recordiau Côsh Records label).

One of the songs that will be included on the new album is ‘Hen’ [‘Old’]: a country-tinged duet with Bwncath’s Elidyr Glyn. ‘Hen’ is the latest in a series of tracks that Mei has released during the past few years: ‘Olwyn Uwchben y Dŵr’ [‘Wheel Above the Water’], ‘29’, ‘Allan o’r Suddo [‘Out of the Sinking’] and ‘Mae Hi Isio Bod Ei Hun’ [‘She Wants to Be Alone / Herself’] all received significant airplay on BBC Radio Cymru and beyond.

Adam Walton compared the song ‘Lawr’ [Down], from the Album ‘Llwch’ [Dust] to the sound of bands such as Oasis, Kasabian and T. Rex. ‘Llwch’ also received numerous favourable reviews – both online and in the Welsh language press – with the following assessment appearing on the ‘From The Margins’ website:

‘This is a superb debut release … Built from scintillating guitar sounds, infectious rhythms and heartfelt vocals …’

Beside bands such as Oasis and Kasabian, Mei’s solo output is also influenced by artists like Coldplay, The Killers, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, DMA’s, John Mayer and The Smiths.

Before he became a solo artist, Mei was previously a member of popular Welsh-language rock band, Vanta, the band that released the popular songs ‘Tri Mis a Diwrnod’ [‘Three Months and a Day’], ‘Enfys Bell’ [’Distant Rainbow’] and ‘Pen y Byd’ [‘The Top of the World’]. ‘Pen y Byd’ has recently been resurrected – and given a new lease of life – after it became a staple of Bwncath’s live set.
